what is id-shop?!?

What is idSHOP? idSHOP designs produces and sells interaction design related merchandise representing the idLAB spirit, universe, activities and mood.

The idea is to ‘miniaturize” or scale down our projects both conceptually and physically. Most of idLAB projects are space related, event related and temporary. Our aim in idSHOP is to extract products from these projects: products that you can HOLD BUY and TAKE with you! We are fascinated by the process of turning our projects into merchandises and creating desirable objects out of them

The idSHOP was born when around December 2005 we held an open online discussion about the identity of idLAB The idea in a nutshell was to reflect on what we did in the past, define and phrase where we want to go in the future and eventually come up with a way to communicate ourselves to the world. This exercise was fascinating and fertile and we invite you to take a look at this site in order to get an idea about the process from which the concept of idSHOPwas born.

We are launching idSHOP hoping that from this point on it will grow evolve and reach places we didn’t necessarily intend it to. In idLAB we like surprises, and we often find the processes as exciting and enriching as the final outcome. idLAB>Milano+Torino, July 2006
